The ‘Projects Summary’ screen gives you a quick but complete overview of the status of each project that you are working on. The ‘Project Summary’ screen can be renamed to whatever you are choosing to call your projects (for example a ‘Matters Summary’ for attorneys) with one click in Preferences.
The screen shows the most important details about each project – how many hours you’ve worked on it, the billing type (hourly, fixed fee, etc.), what you’ve billed, what’s been paid, what is outstanding, and what you have left to bill. There are separate columns showing late fees due, if you charge them, and expenses.
Over time, the ‘Projects Summary’ screen might become crowded, so there are some powerful filters that you can use. By just clicking a checkbox, you can choose to show or hide those projects that you haven’t logged any hours in during the date range that you choose. You can also show or hide projects that don’t have any more billables remaining. Needless to say, you can sort and filter by client or by date range.
Many of the columns have totals at the bottom, so that you can easily see, for example, how many hours you’ve worked for a certain client within a certain time period or how much you’ve been paid versus how much is outstanding.
The ‘Detailed Projects Summary’ screen is closely related. This screen shows every time entry that you have entered into the ‘Daily Work – Log Hours’ screen and what the timer has recorded. It shows all of the time entries for all your projects and all your clients. The screen also shows which user logged the time (if you are working in multi-user mode) and the hourly rate that the time was logged at.
The ‘Detailed Projects Summary’ screen includes filters that enable you to change what is displayed. You can sort by date, client, project, and user. By using these filters, you can easily see, for example, that you worked a number of hours for specific client during certain month.
